Allegra Hicks is the designer and face behind the eponymous international luxury lifestyle brand that is recognized around the world for its beautiful textiles and prints.
At 18, Allegra moved to Milan to study design. Her tastes developed further following time in Brussels studying fine art. After her studies, she went to New York to assist artist Donald Baechler for a year after which she worked in a contemporary art gallery. After Allegra settled in London she started her own business.
The Allegra Hicks lifestyle is eclectic, individual, and timeless. Allegra takes inspiration from everything around her: travels to India, art, music and nature. By translating oriental themes with a western aesthetic, her strong organic patterns and colourways form a harmonious whole.
In 1998, Allegra’s first fabric collection was skillfully prototyped using traditional printers in Rajastan and thus, her signature style was born.
In 1999 her first range of caftans and fashion accessories was launched. Following high demand for her effortlessly sophisticated clothes, she opened a shop on Chelsea Green, London, soon named “the Mecca for easy-dress shopping” by Vogue.
In November 2010, Allegra published her latest book ‘An Eye For Design’ with Abrams publishing. The book has been described as “A visual poem and an internal voyage through a designer’s mind which will inspire readers to look at fabrics and interiors in new ways.”
Today Allegra Hicks designs limited edition caftans and dresses, a homeware collection, fabrics and rugs.
Allegra’s latest design collaborations include a range of rugs for The Rug Company, interiors products for West Elm in the US, and the Lulu capsule collection for online furniture retailer Made.com.
In September 2012 she launched her fashion diffusion line, Allegra by Allegra. The collection is sold at John Lewis and on ALLEGRABYALLEGRA.COM.
Allegra’s style and elegance has drawn attention the world over and she has been recognized for her achievements as a designer.
